Artist’s Bio / Statement

Art and the study of the human body have always been part of who I am and what I do. Practical economics determined my first career. However, passion drove me to pursue art full-time: primarily as a painter. I am largely self-taught but credit several talented teachers who have generously guided me with a more formal art education along the way. My painting endeavors to move beyond representation of an individual’s anatomy and seeks to get to the essence of the subject’s soul while still allowing the mystery and questions to remain. As an artist, one must connect with their inner voice, that has been a deep and ongoing journey for me. I continue to explore the possibilities of line, color, paint and narrative; and, in doing so create a visual language. I am inspired by many artists, primarily Botticelli, Schiele, Saville, Hausner, Neel and Kahn. My work is represented in several private collections in  Florida and Maryland/DC area.

“You should keep on painting, no matter how difficult it is, because this is all part of experience and the more experience you have the better it is. unless it kills you and then you know you’ve gone too far”  Alice Neel
